The breakup of a marriage has devastating consequences to a family anywhere, but when a husband leaves his wife in a third world nation, it usually means the wife and children are left to fend for themselves. Unlike more developed nations, society doesn’t provide a safety net, so an abandoned woman in this situation is often left to beg with her children or even resort to prostitution to support her family.
Fortunately, we can be a part of the solution! Sewing centers present an opportunity for abandoned women to learn a skill and work at home while tending to their young families. After spending several weeks learning how to sew marketable clothing in the center, the woman returns home with a sewing machine to work from home.
